Question 4 - Who would be the audience for your media product?
Our horror opening title sequence is aimed at a large audience of people aged 16 and above. This means that we needed to make our title sequence appeal to them. After our film was completed and uploaded on various social networking sites we allowed people to watch it and give their opinions and also to make sure our product was successful in appealing to our target audience. We carried out our interviews on teenagers across the school as they are the age range we are aiming towards. We let them watch our horror opening title sequence and asked them the following sequence of questions. 'do you like horror' ,'what was good about our opening title sequence'
, 'what could be improved' , would you watch our film at the cinema' and so on... We asked these questions to find out and reveal what teenagers (our target audience) are into and what they find interesting so we could see if our opening title sequence was effective.
Our target audience is age 16 and above because we feel that the will be able to more readily relate to a horror film set within a school, with the main antagonist being a key figure in school life, who would frequently appear in a teenagers day to day lives. Teenagers are often enjoy the horror genre the most out of all of the age ranges, so it was an obvious decision to focus are efforts on attracting a teenage audience. The teenagers would also be able to relate to the victims in our opening title sequence, as they can be seen doing rebellious things, such as drinking, which many of the audience would be able to understand, and relate to.
